The Diversity of Worldviews among Young Adults: Contemporary (Non)Religiosity and Spirituality Through the Lens of an International Mixed Method Study edited by Peter Nynäs, Ariela Keysar, Janne Kontala, Ben-Willie Kwaku Golo, Mika T. Lassander, Marat Shterin, Sofia Sjö and Paul Stenner. Springer, 2022.
The YARG-project (Young Adults and Religion in a Global Perspective) explores how religion, spirituality and non-religiosity are expressed among young adults globally. The project, that was a centre of excellence at Åbo Akademi University 2015-2018 and financed by the Academy of Finland 2015-2019, has been led by Professor Peter Nynäs at the study of religions at Åbo Akademi University and gathered researchers from thirteen countries around the world. The volume The Diversity of Worldviews among Young Adults presents the main findings of the project. Each chapter is co-authored by researchers from different contexts and focus on both overarching results and specific questions. A unique aspect of YARG was the use of the newly developed method Faith Q-Sort, first introduced by Professor David Wulff and further developed within YARG together with Professor Wulff. The method does not limit itself to predefined understandings of religion but is rather open to different ways of living, experiencing, and expressing religiosity, spirituality, or non-religiosity. The volume introduces the method and explores the results from varied perspectives. Thanks to financial support from Åbo Akademi University, the The Diversity of Worldviews among Young Adults is available open access.
