How to borrow
All books are listed in Åbo Akademi’s library database Alma-Finna and can be ordered in advance and picked up from Åbo Akademi’s library in Arken at Tehtaankatu 2. Most books are available for home loan with a four-week borrowing period. Exceptions include journals, reference literature, valuable books, large-format books, and other special collections.
Everyone who is registered as a client at Åbo Akademi University Library can borrow books in our library. New library cards can also be acquired from the ÅAU library. If you are a student at another university in Finland, your library card from that library can be activated also at the Donner Library. Our books are available by interlibrary loan to other libraries both in Finland and abroad.
Researchers and teachers affiliated with ÅAU can order books from the Donner Institute’s library directly to their office on campus. This applies to books that are available for home loan. When ordering books in Alma, select the service unit “Arken (Turku)” or “Campus office.” If you want the books delivered to your office, either enter the office address in the comments field of the order form or add the address to your user profile. The books are registered as borrowed in Alma before being sent via internal mail to the specified address.
The register description of the borrower register of Åbo Akademi University Library and the library of the Donner Institute is at the moment only available in Swedish here.
